THREE PARISH COUNCILLOR VACANCIES
2 IN BLACKWATER AND 1 IN ST. AGNES
Do you want to help make decisions for the benefit of your community?
Can you represent the range of opinions of local people?
If you are over 18 and live or work in the Parish of St Agnes, which includes Porthtowan, Mount Hawke, Mithian, Blackwater & Wheal Rose, you could be eligible to become a Parish Councillor. The Council is looking for 3 people to represent the Blackwater Ward (2 vacancies) and St. Agnes Ward (1 vacancy).
Applicants can be from any part of the Parish.
To become a Councillor you do not need any prior experience of local government or politics. For an informal chat about the vacancies and what the role entails, please contact Catherine Nutting, Parish Clerk. Alternatively, if you know an existing Councillor, please do talk with them about the opportunity. Full Council meetings are normally held the first Monday of the month, 7pm and additional committee meetings occur at various times – though usually Monday evenings. You should be able to commit to attend most of the Full Council meetings and have an interest in the local community. Please read the PROSPECTIVE COUNCILLOR GUIDE
Should you wish to be considered for the role, please write a statement (maximum 300 words) detailing who you are and why you would like to join the Council. This must be received by email to the Clerk by Friday 27th June 2025. You will then be asked to attend the Council meeting on 7th July 2025 where the Council will make a decision via its Co-Option procedure.
