On 25th May 2020 the Parish Council deemed the opening of toilets prior to the lifeguard patrolling of Porthtowan and Trevaunance Cove beaches to be inadvisable as it did not wish to encourage lengthy visits or condone people entering the water when it is not safe to do so.  The situation has now changed and the RNLI are running patrols at these locations 7 days a week from 10:00-18:00.  The Parish Council have therefore reviewed their decision on the reopening of public toilets and have put in place new staffing and cleaning measures, risk assessments and method statements, and have been awaiting delivery of new materials and PPE.

As from 28th June 2020, and until further notice, the following will be in place at each of the three public toilets run by the Parish Council:

  • Porthtowan – accessible toilet open for public use 10:00-18:00, 7 days a week.
  • Trevaunance Cove – accessible toilet open for public use 10:00-18:00, 7 days a week.
  • Churchtown (St Agnes) – remain closed.

Social distancing and good hygiene practises must be observed by the general public when using these facilities.  Hand sanitiser will be supplied for entry/exit to the toilets, and the cleaning regime for the toilets will be increased.  The Council will keep the situation under review and will adapt to changes as necessary.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Lee Dunkley, Parish Clerk
