We desperately need a similar sign or speed reducing measures in Wheal Kitty – a huge increase in traffic because of the Wheal Kitty Workplace.
Thank you for your comment and the interest, John. We’ll pass on your thoughts to the team. These signs are portable and where there are approved places to install them we will do so.
With kind regards.
I do question how effective these signs are and even wonder if they are counter intuitive! These signs certainly work for those who want to abide by the law, however, I believe they are ignored by the arrogant and become a target by the boy/girl racers to see how high up the scoreboard they can go – after all, we all know there is no consequences to be had if the sign flashes!
Thank you for your comment, Daniel. Just to explain, the signs do not actually register speeds above a level that we set, which should deter boy/girl racer type behaviour.
We have evidence that the signs reduce average speed significantly and therefore that is a benefit to the community.
Kind regards.
Good that St Agnes village speeds have been addressed and now time to review parts of the surrounding area – particularly well known “rat runs”. For example around Mithian. What, if anything, is in progress please? I see “quiet lanes” in other parishes – are these something we could have around Aggie?
Thanks for your comment, Ian. The four radar speed signs were purchased for the parish (not just St Agnes village). They are portable and can be moved to different locations. We can put forward your request for Mithian for consideration. Also, just for information, we have received word that the Highways Team at Cormac is waiting for confirmation on the new Community Network Highway Scheme. Kind regards.
Hi again Ian. Further to our previous comment, we will now also be exploring the ‘Quiet Lanes’ initiative, so thank you for the suggestion.
